There is no cure for chronic nerve pain, therefore our only power is in prevention. Women cannot be empowered to prevent vulvodynia if Doctors and the healthsystem are not highlighting the causes. Please help me update the NHS thrush page to include a warning about the link to vulvodynia.

Patient Request:
The NHS thrush page should be reviewed to clearly highlight the link between candida and vulval nerve damage (vulvodynia). This information is available on the Vulval Pain Society, NHS Vulvodynia leaflets and British Association of Dermatologists, yet it is not presented where women can be warned and supported to reduce their risk. Vulvodynia is very difficult to treat and costly to the NHS. Omitting this clinically significant information undermines women’s health and early prevention efforts.
Doctor/ PhD:
The NHS thrush page omits clinically significant information about the link between Candida and vulval nerve damage (vulvodynia). As a healthcare professional, I am concerned that women are developing preventable neuropathic pain that can stop them working and contributing to society. The association is recognised by NHS Vulval Clinics, British Association of Dermatologists and the Vulval Pain Society. Failing to include this risks women’s health and adds avoidable costs to the NHS. [Name]
